Which is annoying, since you have to work to get it to fit the way it's supposed to into the humidifier.

43-5208 Mastercraft Humidifier Filter Belt

If you still have a 43-5208 humidifier, you are going to have a problem the next time you need to replace the drive belts in the back. There are two that connect from the motor through a step down to drive the drum.
The belts are hard to find, if you can find them at all, and they are ridiculously expensive. What makes matters worse is that they last about a year.
The problem is they are inexpensive neoprene and not the right material for a drive belt. They are really just an O ring. O rings are common place but the 5" size is unusual.
I found an excellent replacement that will likely last many years. It is made of urethane, 70 durometer (can stretch) and is slightly bigger in the O. I paid less than $12 for a pair of them. I found them at Able O-Rings (Toronto and Rochester). Their part number 155P700

This is not a HEPA filter, since it does not meet HEPA standards in terms of particle filtration efficiency. Putting "HEPA" in the name is deceptive, and allows to sell a cheap item for several times the price.
I got this to test the filter media to see if it can be used for a true HEPA application in an electronics room. We have tested this filter at 60 CFM using an APC plus particle counter and got the following readings (presented as counts in the 0.3, 0.5, 1.0, and 5.0 micron ranges). Numbers are accurate to within 10%.
Ambient air:
20565, 1125, 254, 0
Hunter-Filtered air:
2102, 51, 32, 0
Positive control (true HEPA filter - we used a Whatman HEPA-CAP here to make sure the counter is accurate)
0, 0, 0, 0.
Thus, this filter is ~90% efficient - which should be enough for the most folks to achieve an allergy relief, but also could be achieved by a variety of much cheaper electrostatic filters rated above MERV10 one can get at HomeDepot.
The federal HEPA standard is 99.97% particle removal at 0.3 microns - and this filter is more than 2 orders of magnitude (factor of 100+) below this rating. The media appears to be polypropylene and has a surface area at least an order of magnitude smaller than a true HEPA filter - which is not surprising.

This was the cheapest place and one of the very few places to purchase the replacement filters. I have replaced the filters only once. they were pricey and I expected that when I realized I could not get them at the corner hardware store or bulk item store. I rated the filters with 3 stars for this reason only. The filters work fine.

The reason I chose this was because the original filters from sears has had the material they were made of changed to an inferior material. That being said, this filter is constructed better with a aluminum grid to lend support to the filter so it won't collapse after many uses. They are a little tight to install into the humidifier, but with patience they will go in and perform. I have had them in now for a few weeks now and they are fine.

These filters are okay dimensional, but they are too weak physically. They would be much better if framed is some sort of stiffener - just some form of a plastic boarder/brace would work I think.
My unit has an air horn that sits on the top of the filter, putting some downward weight on the filters. Also, the "retaining" edges provided by the Kenmore are far too small,making it difficult to keep the filters in place when reassembling.
Overall the life of the filter is also disappointing. I didn't set a clock on this number, but I believe the total run time could not be more than 20 hours times 30 days.or 600 hours (maybe 100 gallons of water). The output now is very low, as measured by a humidity gauge in an adjacent room, compared to what it did in the first few days it was ran.
I will look for a new dehumidifier before paying the cost of this units short lived filters/wicks again. ,

I bought 2 boxes of filters at SEARS. I opened them up to install them and found 1 of the filters was torn, and none of them really fit correctly, too short! I was back at SEARS within an hour to return the filters. Told them that the quality of their filters is terrible... The quality of the filters I purchased thru Amazon is by far, much better... Better fit & sturdier!

Somewhat expensive for what you get, but the dog ate the original one when I had it out for the winter. These are hard to find in our local area. Should work fine next spring when I start watering again.

This filter is way too expensive. Vornado must live by the razor blade business model - sell air filter units for cheap (well, not really) but charge obscene amounts for replacement filters.
Pro tip: Buy the Filtrete Maximum Allergen Reduction 18x24 inch filter from the local hardware store. Cut/snip it in half and you get 2 filters for this Vornado for 1/5 the price per use. The cut edge won't be completely flush due to the corrugation, but some careful pressing/flattening on that edge will make it work.

It's spring time, which equates to allergy time, so it was important for me to ensure that our Vornado air purifier was geared up to handle the pollen. I was so relieved to find that this HEPA filter were still being sold, since the actual air purifier unit has been discontinued ... thanks Amazon for making it easy to find! easy to order, and quick to ship. I've installed it and it's working as expected.
